Over the past few weeks, industry sources who will remain nameless have indulged a few secrets about our beloved DJ MAG TOP 100.
The TOP 100 Poll is seen by many in the industry as a sham, a shotty attempt at listing the world’s most in demand DJs and producers. In past years many artists have tricked the DJ Mag voting system using some pretty absurd methods.
In the year 2010, it was discovered that 3 renowned artists had hired technology firms in India to boost their online votes. The firm would create a mass number of accounts, and register votes for these accounts on the site. The folks at DJ Mag(trackitdown) found out about this and took measures to restore their sacred list…However, word was already out.
Throughout the years many have doubted the credibility of the list. Nobody knows how DJ Mag generate it, but people have grown increasingly skeptical. Rumours are plenty, some even mention that one of the top DJs on the list is only in the top 10 because he manages its day-to-day operation.
This year, a whole new rumours came to existence. Apparently, MIT (Michigan Institute of Technology) students hacked the site and put the top 10 DJs at their choice. The result was 10 relative no names topping the list. This last bit comes directly from one of our industry insiders currently on a North American tour. However, DJ Mag didn’t comment in regards to that statement but has mentioned an attempt by hackers on the site during the last day of voting.
In any event, this year is the year where you will definitely be able to decide whether or not the voting was fixed. Over the course of the last year we’ve seen Afrojack, Avicii, The Swedish House Mafia, Max Vangelis, AN21, Hardwell, and Wolfgang Gartner all experience massive fame across the globe. The guard seems to be changing from Trance to House. Where will Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and Gareth Emery fit this year? Avicii has the #1 Podcast in the world….
Keep in mind the DJ Mag Top 100 does not generally include dubstep artists and electro remains off the list. DJ MAG = trance and house.
2011 is looking like it will finish very brightly for the new Roman sensation OZA. Dabbling in trance and house, or trouse, the young producer is thrashing charts and radio programs around the world.
Behold his latest addition to dj sets everywhere. “People Hate Humans”, no slated release date.
To be released on Auryn Music. . Stay tuned to Auryn and Rhythmworks for the good shit kids go for.
Why the video for your new song has 2 231 likes after 536 views? How is that even possible? Maybe we’re mistaken, and there is a way to honestly do this.
Here’s the screen shot.
What do you think? We went back to the search bar and typed in the title “Maximal Crazy” and found that it actually has over 20k views. Hold on a minute though, if it had that many views, why would the video not have any comments…?
Maybe youtube is just a little tired from the long weekend…Or…You decide. Sup youtube? Sup Tijs?
So if there is a “Kate” that reminds me of this song I’m pretty sure I’ll marry her her. Until then I can go buy this big choon that was released today on beatport, Itunes and other major download sites. Nice work Arty! Catch him at Electric Zoo this weekend in NYC.
Recently Markus Schulz released a remix package for his single “Do You Dream” off the album of the same name. Honorable mentions go out to Setrise on this one, really a gem of a remix. Well done!
Recently A-Trak launched a monthly show on Sirius XM titled “Fool’s Gold Radio”. This is the second episode and it is available for download in the soundcloud player. Get it before it’s gone, things this good don’t usually last forever, unless you download it.
Toronto resident Daniel Carelli and Kamil bring the new sound of big room house on this choooon of a remix. Avicii and the Swedish House Mafia can clearly be given credit for inspiring this creation. This really proves that there are some super quality house and trance music producers right in our backyard.
One of DJ Mag’s Top 50 djs is back with his signature progressive trance sound. After receiving critical acclaim by none other than Armin Van Buuren the track has finally been made available on beatport (the new and improved). Enjoy!
So we’ve been taking a hiatus after our account was hijacked by a crazy woman.
Glad to see you all again and all that, lets get back to music now.
So when we left, we had posted a few tracks of an artist named OZA. Hailing from Italy OZA is making some huge waves in trance/house, or TROUSE as Tiesto so eloquently puts it. You may have listened to one of his break out tracks, “Small Planet” which of course was track of the week on Above & Beyond’s critically acclaimed podacast “Trance Around The World”. Or perhaps you were listening to “Crotchetta” more recently on Tiesto’s “Club Life” podcast. We’re sure you enjoyed what you heard. Most recently we’ve been linked to a mash-up of Small Planet and Knock You Out from Tiesto and Emily Haines. The Ben Double acapella mash-up is posted below, and yes, it is, a free download. Also below is Crotchetta featuring the masterful workings of OZA and SETRISE, rejoice!
